THE JOB, PLAINLY
We are seeking someone to sell our optics into medium to large sized specialty dealers, large e-commerce shops, Big Box, and potentially buying groups across the United States. Grow the book of business and expand business with the existing dealer network. International dealer relationships are managed separately. Be reachable, be sharp on the product, and be willing to spend a lot of time on the phone and travel for key account meetings.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Primary point of contact for key domestic dealer accounts with a mandate for aggressive expansion
- Prospecting, negotiating and closing new e-commerce retailers, regional retail chains and big box accounts
- Collaborate with VP of Operations, distribution partners and marketing team to drive sell-through
- Prominent member of team representing us at trade shows and industry events
- Feed marketing intelligence back to product development, marketing, sales and operations- Work alongside sales admin team to ensure efficient top-quality service and speed of delivery
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of retail focused sales experience, ideally from within the firearms-connected industry (optics, firearms, ammunition, hunting, tactical, or shooting sports).
- Open, consistent communicator. Comfortable on the phone, proactive with updates, and able to keep leadership informed without being chased.
- You are experienced in handling firearms. Comfortable at range events and able to discuss optics from a level of personal experience.
- You welcome the scoreboard. You are willing to be measured on revenue inside the first 90 days, and you want comp tied to what you produce.
- You see AI as a force multiplier for sales, not a threat. You will learn how to implement AI workflows directly with the CEO and use them to help manage the sales process, move faster, and close more deals.
- Comfortable in a CRM. You can keep deal stages, account notes, and a forecast current on your own. Familiarity with Zoey or other CRMs is a plus. Solid Excel skills for dealer pricing and account planning.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating dealer terms, MAP enforcement, and program pricing. You can read a P&L conversation with a buyer without losing margin.
- Working knowledge of two-step distribution and the major buying groups. Comfortable manning a booth and presenting products at trade shows.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and authorized to work in the United States. Able to pass a standard background check; the firearms industry requires it.
WHO YOU ARE NOT
This is an individual-contributor seat. If you want to manage people in year one, this is not the role. We are not looking for a director title, a soft landing, or someone who needs three months to get oriented before they start producing. Proof of performance is expected within 90 days of hire.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE
Twelve months from your start date, you have grown the managed dealer book in revenue terms, opened a defined number of new accounts across e-commerce, regional specialty retail, and Big Box, attended the right industry shows representing the brand, and built a working forecast that operations and leadership rely on. Specific targets are set with the VP of Operations at offer and reviewed at 30, 60, and 90 days.
