Our team had the pleasure of attending the SHOT Show back in January, and we were impressed by many of the activities we were able to participate in. One of the greatest things we learned about was Project ChildSafe. For those who don’t know, Project ChildSafe is the nation’s most comprehensive firearm safety and education program in the US and the official firearm safety program of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).
Project ChildSafe, since its inception in 1999, has been a beacon of safety in our communities. By collaborating with law enforcement agencies, gun ranges, retailers, instructors, churches, and healthcare facilities across the US, they have distributed over 41 million gun locks, preventing countless firearm accidents, thefts, and misuse, including suicide. This is a testament to the profound impact of their work, made possible by the support of over 28,000 partners in the community.

Project ChildSafe is a big part of promoting safety and wellness in the homes that support the 2nd Amendment. Luckily, it’s easy to access the resources available to everyone at Project ChildSafe. On projectchildsafe.org, you can access much information, including information specific to your own community & educational materials, including videos, tips, infographics, and toolkits, so we can all do our part in ensuring we are responsible firearm owners.
This year is the 25th anniversary of Project ChildSafe’s commitment to preventing firearm accidents. As part of their 25th anniversary campaign, they aim to raise $250,000 to meet the nation’s demand for firearm safety resources. The deadline for pledges in this campaign is May 27th, but you can donate monthly or a one-time donation at any time. The Project ChildSafe Foundation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization; all donations are tax-deductible. You can find more information at projectchildsafe.org/donate/ if you want to donate. This is a fantastic tool available to everyone, and even if the donation isn’t possible, sharing the information with your network can help access more homes that need it!
